Aim the solar panel and when it is bright the pump will pump water. The amount of water will vary according to the angle of the sun, the brightness of the sun and the height you are pumping.

Smaller tubing will pump higher.

This is a good little solar pump kit that is useful at heights below 1 meter. Higher than this, the flow is less controllable and will stop if the light is not optimal. The Maximum height we achieved was a dribble at 1.5 meters in optimum conditions. So working at 50cm to 100cm should provide good watering.
